Pssst...

This was definitely a better August than last year and the highest number of units sold in the month of August since 2009. We saw total sales in all areas well above what we saw last year. But as is typical with August, sales were down from July as a lot of people took advantage of vacation time and our amazing summer weather. With that, the total number of new listings was down from July but up slightly from August 2012. Total Active listings on market continued to decline in August with Month’s Supply of Active Listings up marginally due to a decrease in total sales for the month.

Greater Vancouver: Total Units Sold in August 2013 was 2,557 – down from 2,986 in July 2013, up from 1,670 in August 2012; New Listings in August 2013 were down 14% from July 2013; Month’s Supply of Total Residential Listings is up to 7 Months (Balanced Market).

Vancouver Westside Residential: Total Units Sold in August 2013 was 518 – down from 572 in July 2013, up from 362 in August 2012; New Listings in August 2013 were down 14% from July 2013; Month’s Supply of Total Residential Listings is up to 6 Months (Balanced Market).

Vancouver Eastside Residential: Total Units Sold in August 2013 was 280 – down from 326 in July 2013, up from 169 in August 2012; New Listings in August 2013 were down 19% from July 2013; Month’s Supply of Total Residential Listings is up to 4 Months (Seller’s Market).

West Vancouver Residential: Total Units Sold in August 2013 was 97 – down from 110 in July 2013, up from 36 in August 2012; New Listings in August 2013 were down 18% from July 2013; Month’s Supply of Total Residential Listings is up to 8 Months (Buyer’s Market).

Happy New Year

As we enter back into school life, work life
- real life -
what does your entry way say about you?

I go in phases. Sometimes my entry way looks cool and minimalist. Sometimes I add chachkas from other rooms and try to create artsy vignettes. Those are usually dismantled when I realize a flying basketball is bound to bring it all crashing down. But sadly most of the time my entry way looks like after school and a day of work vomited all over my front hall! Your entry way creates the first impression of your home. If you could have your ideal dream front entrance, what would it be? I was inspired by these stunning entry ways at La Dolce Vita:

Modern meets Traditional

Modern & Minimalist

Hollywood

Feminine & Serene

Bold & Glossy

If you have a grand entrance, here is your chance to make a statement with lighting, flooring and furniture - Go for it! (Check out Kelly Wearstler's entry way in the clip below - amazing).

$1 ,148,000

1 565 Mariner's Walk
The Lagoons, False Creek

$1,248,000

1 920 Cypress St.
North of Fourth, Kitsilano

Do you wish you were still here?

Me too - hiding out in the warm summer we just had. Now its time to get back at it. A friend just introduced me to The Skimm. If you are like me, and click open your emails from bed before you get up, The Skimm will get you rising. It essentially takes the headlines of the world news and summarizes it with fresh editorial content. Once you are done that last beach read...sign up for The Skimm!

I have a long lasting design crush.

Personally I am a Chocolatewoman, but I have friends who are Ironwomen!

On August 25th at Whistler, I followed my dearest friend on her 21st Ironman race. The dearest and also most dedicated, determined, focused, motivated and craziest friend I have. Christine Fletcher came 4th in her professional women's category. It was an awe-inspiring, jaw dropping and emotionally exhausting day just watching these brave men and women swim, bike and run that far. I once slowly did a half marathon and slowly did the Whistler Gran Fondo. The concept of essentially doubling those and adding a swim into that mix, blows me away. I would still be coming in. Christine, who has lost count of how many half ironmen races she has done, is a natural. And she is a natural coach and cheerleader to her friends who take on these athletic challenges. Christine and Stephmoved into my brother's Whistler place for the summer to train and inspire each other. These girls are an unstoppable twosome. Watch them take on their goals with fierce energy and drive - how? Well they both have awesomely cool Blogs of course. Deanna, our mutual buddy (blogger & marathoner herself) described following these ironwomen best. Congratulations Steph and Chrissy!
